In a series of overnight operations, law enforcement agencies across Cyprus arrested twelve individuals for a range of offences, including drink driving, public insult, possession of drugs, and illegal residence. During the operations, police stopped a total of 383 drivers and 175 passengers. As part of these checks, officers conducted 116 alcohol tests, resulting in seven positive readings. This highlights ongoing concerns regarding drink driving and its implications for road safety.
In addition to the alcohol tests, police filed a total of 180 complaints related to traffic violations. Notably, 42 of these complaints were specifically linked to speeding offences, indicating a continued challenge in managing speed limits on the island's roads.
