A 28-year-old woman was arrested under a court warrant and remanded in custody. The arrest follows the earlier arrest of a 26-year-old man in the same case. Police investigations continue. The case dates back to Sunday, August 2, at around 7pm, when citizens driving through the Kornos area saw two people get into a vehicle and leave. At the same time, they noticed a fire had broken out in a nearby forest area and managed to put it out before it spread. General Fire Coordinator, Chief Fire Officer Nikos Longinos, said earlier that a woman spotted a person setting fire to grass using a firework, before the person left by car, which she photographed. The driver then put the fire out using water she had in her car, before it could spread. During the investigation, police secured testimony and, on that basis, a court warrant for the arrest of the 26-year-old on charges including conspiracy to commit a felony and attempted arson in a forest, under which he was arrested and remanded in custody. The 26-year-old is expected to appear before Larnaca District Court today for a remand order. The Kofinou Regional Police Station continues its investigations.
