**Ukrainian Drone Attacks Result in Casualties and Fires Across Russia**
In a series of drone attacks attributed to Ukraine, seven warehouse workers were killed, and dozens more were injured on Saturday, according to regional officials. The incidents occurred in the Tambov region and the Moscow area, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
Governor Evgeniy Pervyshov of the Tambov region reported that 25 individuals sustained injuries when Ukrainian drones struck a warehouse belonging to Wildberries, the largest online retailer in Russia. This attack took place in the city of Kotovsk, located approximately 475 kilometers (295 miles) southeast of Moscow. Pervyshov confirmed that seven workers on the night shift died at the scene, emphasizing the potential for greater civilian casualties had more drones not been intercepted. He noted that 28 drones were shot down before reaching their intended targets.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy acknowledged the strikes, stating that the operations targeted logistics facilities utilized by Russia for the production of drones and navigation equipment. He also mentioned that an oil facility was among the targets hit during the attacks, although specific details regarding the damage were not provided.
In a related incident, Governor Andrei Vorobyov of the Moscow region reported another drone attack on a Wildberries warehouse located in Elektrostal, a city east of Moscow, which resulted in 24 injuries. Tatyana Kim, co-founder and CEO of Wildberries, expressed her sorrow over the events, describing it as a “terrible night” for both Russia and the company. She extended her condolences to the families of the victims.
In addition to the attacks on the warehouses, debris from drones in the city of Noginsk, also situated in the Moscow region, caused a fire at an oil depot. Vorobyov indicated that two individuals were injured as a result of this incident, and a nearby maternity hospital was evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The attacks have heightened tensions in the region, with both sides continuing to engage in military actions. The situation remains fluid, and further developments are expected as authorities assess the aftermath of the drone strikes.
As the conflict persists, the impact on civilian life and infrastructure continues to be a significant concern, with both Ukrainian and Russian officials reacting to the ongoing hostilities.
