The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on Friday while the worker was performing external repairs on a building’s air conditioning unit. The compressor exploded under circumstances that are currently being investigated by both the police and the Department of Labour Inspection. An ambulance crew rushed the 49-year-old to Nicosia General Hospital, where he remains intubated in the intensive care unit in critical condition. Police officers, fire service personnel, and an official from the Department of Labour Inspection visited the scene to carry out examinations. The Central Police Station of Nicosia and the Department of Labour Inspection are continuing their investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
