A 24-year-old man had also been arrested in June over the same case and the case against him has already been filed before court for trial. The woman was arrested at around 10.30 am based on a court warrant issued after evidence was obtained during the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department’s inquiry. According to the information under investigation, a fire broke out at around 2.40 am on 26 May 2026 in a vehicle parked outside the home of its 34-year-old owner in an area of Nicosia. The vehicle was destroyed by the fire. Investigations found that the blaze had been deliberately set. As part of the investigation, the 24-year-old was arrested on 3 June, also based on a court warrant. A court ordered his detention for six days on 4 June. On 10 June, the arson case was filed for trial. The court ordered that the 24-year-old remain in custody pending trial until the next hearing, which was set for 16 October 2026.
