Health. Wellbeing.” campaign. The Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK) said the video highlights the country’s contribution to improving workplace safety and health, with particular emphasis on the role of leadership in creating safer working environments. Examples from Cyprus and other countries show how the Vision Zero strategy and its seven Golden Rules can help prevent workplace accidents, improve occupational safety and health and strengthen a culture of prevention. The Cyprus examples focus on the campaign’s first Golden Rule, “Take the lead – demonstrate commitment”. According to ETEK, one of the video’s main messages is that active involvement and commitment from senior management are essential to creating safe and healthy workplaces and achieving the goal of zero workplace accidents. ETEK’s president introduces the video and says architects and engineers have a key role in ensuring safety and health at every stage of a project’s life cycle. He also stresses that responsibility for safety and health goes beyond complying with technical requirements and is directly linked to protecting human life, health and wellbeing. The video was officially screened for the first time at the international conference “From Risk to Resilience: Achieving Vision Zero with AI and Sustainable Construction”, held in Limassol on 2 and 3 July 2026. The conference was organised by ISSA-C, together with the International Safety and Health Construction Coordinators Organisation (ISHCCO), ETEK and the Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers (CYACE). ETEK said the screening highlighted the active role played by Cyprus and Cypriot organisations in promoting Vision Zero internationally and sharing good practices. Vision Zero is a global initiative of the International Social Security Association aimed at continuously improving safety, health and wellbeing in the workplace through seven Golden Rules. ETEK is an official partner of the campaign. The strategy is also included among the priorities of the European Strategic Framework on Health and Safety at Work 2023-2027. ETEK called on engineers, employers, businesses and public- and private-sector organisations to adopt the strategy and apply its seven Golden Rules to help create safer and healthier workplaces. The Chamber also thanked Scaffolding Solutions Ltd for its contribution to the production of the video, particularly chief executive Andreas Polydorou for his cooperation, hosting the filming and taking part in the production.
