He had gone to the station to report being robbed in Erimi on September 8, shortly after being discharged from Limassol Hospital, and found himself face to face with two suspects already there. The suspects are two brothers, aged 21 and 19, arrested both over the robbery and over possession of a large quantity of drugs uncovered during the investigation. The pair appeared before Limassol District Court on September 9, which granted a police request to remand them in custody for seven days. The robbery investigation Police initially arrested the two brothers while investigating the robbery of the delivery driver in Erimi, after investigations by officers from Episkopi Police Station and Limassol CID produced testimony against them. Officers went to the brothers’ home to locate them, where they found the delivery driver’s motorcycle keys in the older brother’s possession. A waist bag found in the yard was identified as the one stolen from the victim. After the searches, the brothers were taken to Episkopi Police Station, where the delivery driver arrived to give his own statement and identified them as the men who had attacked and robbed him. He told police one of the two had covered his face with a handkerchief during the robbery, but that it slipped during the attack, allowing him to see and recognise both suspects. Separately, officers traced the stolen motorcycle to a secluded spot in Erimi, using GPS equipment fitted to the vehicle. The drugs case The same searches, at the brothers’ home and a nearby field, turned up a combined 772 grams of cannabis and a set of precision scales. At the home, officers saw the younger brother throw an object into the yard, onto a gas cylinder. It turned out to be eight packages of dried cannabis weighing 308 grams in total, along with a set of precision scales. Questioned orally at the scene, he said the drugs were his, for personal use, while his older brother denied any involvement. Anti-Drugs Unit (YKAN) officers carried out further investigations into the case. During questioning, the older brother led officers to a field in Erimi where he said drugs were buried, telling them they belonged to his younger brother. Four more packages of dried cannabis, weighing a total of 464 grams, were found buried in the field, accounting for the remainder of the 772 grams found across both searches.
