**Fourth Suspect Remanded in Larnaca Terrorism Case**
Larnaca, Cyprus – A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with an ongoing terrorism investigation in Larnaca, police confirmed on Saturday. The individual, a national from a third country, was extradited to Cyprus after being located abroad. Members of the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department (CID) facilitated the transfer.
Larnaca CID chief George Charalambous stated that the arrest was made "in the context of investigating the case concerning terrorism." Following the arrest, the suspect appeared before the Larnaca District Court, which issued an eight-day detention order to allow investigators to continue their inquiries.
This latest arrest is part of a broader investigation that has already seen three individuals remanded in custody. These suspects face a total of twelve charges, including terrorism, conspiracy to commit a felony, and possession of explosives. Among those already detained are a 32-year-old and a 38-year-old, who are alleged to have planned attacks targeting Israeli interests in Cyprus, reportedly following instructions received from abroad. Authorities have indicated that these two suspects are linked to Hamas.
In a related development, a 54-year-old suspect previously detained in connection with the case was released in June after the Larnaca District Court rejected a request for his continued detention. The court imposed several conditions for his release, including a €1 million bail requirement, the provision of guarantors, surrender of travel documents, and a mandate to report to police four times a week.
Additionally, a 57-year-old brother of one of the suspects was arrested during the investigation but was later released after authorities found no evidence to implicate him in the case.
The investigation commenced following police searches at locations in Governor’s Beach and the Kamares area of Larnaca, where investigators discovered chemical substances, including ammonium nitrate. These materials are currently being examined as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Authorities have previously alleged that one suspect entered Cyprus with the assistance of another individual. This case is also connected to a 37-year-old man who was arrested in Greece and reportedly claimed to have attended a Hamas training camp in Malaysia in 2025.
Police have confirmed that investigations are still underway, and further developments are anticipated as the case progresses.
