**GSP Salutes Athletes Who Competed for Cyprus at World U20 Championships**
The Pancyprian Gymnastic Association (GSP) has expressed its congratulations to two young athletes, Alexandros Ghamrawi and Anthi Apostolidou, for their commendable performances at the recently concluded 21st World Athletics U20 Championships, which took place in Oregon, USA.
Alexandros Ghamrawi showcased his talent in the men’s hammer throw event, achieving a significant milestone by qualifying for the finals with a throw of 72.38 meters. In the final round, he recorded a best throw of 72.09 meters, securing an impressive seventh place in the world rankings. Ghamrawi's performance has been hailed as a remarkable achievement for Cypriot athletics, demonstrating his potential on the global stage.
Anthi Apostolidou, the youngest competitor in the women's hammer throw category, also made her mark at the championships. Competing against 22 other athletes, she finished 18th with a best throw of 55.19 meters. Despite not medaling, her participation at such a prestigious event is seen as a significant step in her athletic career, especially as she remains eligible to compete in the next World Athletics U20 Championships scheduled for 2028.
The GSP did not only commend the athletes but also acknowledged the vital role of their coaches, Skevi Theodorou and Yiannos Apostolidis, for their dedication and support in the athletes' development.
