**Larnaca’s Ayios Ioannis Neighbourhood Undergoing Sustainability Upgrades**
Larnaca is set to embark on a significant transformation of the Ayios Ioannis neighbourhood, with plans for €6.2 million worth of upgrades aimed at enhancing sustainability and accessibility. On Wednesday evening, Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras, along with members of the community council, met with local residents in the yard of the Ayios Ioannis Theologos church to discuss the upcoming phase of the project. During the meeting, they outlined the planned works, which will involve extensive road excavations and a gradual implementation of traffic diversions to facilitate the upgrades.
The project aims to create a more pedestrian-friendly environment by resurfacing and improving the existing road network, widening pavements, and restructuring car parks. Additionally, dedicated bus lanes will be established, and utility networks will be relocated underground, contributing to a cleaner and more organized urban landscape.
