According to police, the woman’s condition is not considered a cause for concern. His 30-year-old daughter has been discharged from hospital. Meanwhile, Ayia Napa Police Station is continuing investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy. According to police sources, statements will be taken from the owners of the other two boats involved, including the owner of the vessel that was destroyed, as well as from the five people rescued by police and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), along with eyewitnesses. Investigators will examine videos that have emerged publicly, as well as witness accounts, in an effort to establish where the boats were moored and how they were swept away. The exact cause of the 76-year-old businessman’s death will be determined during the scheduled post-mortem examination. Mavropoulos trapped in wreckage Preliminary investigations indicate that Dimi Mavropoulos became trapped in the wreckage of his boat, unlike his partner and daughter, who managed to jump into the sea and were rescued in time by helicopters deployed by the JRCC. Police and members of the public rescued one person who had been on board the first boat, which was registered as a coastal tourism vessel. Two other people who were on the third boat were rescued by helicopters, while that vessel ultimately did not sink. Checks for possible pollution Early on Sunday morning, Fisheries Department officials began inspections in the area of the tragedy to determine whether any oil pollution had occurred. According to information from the Fisheries Department, no serious oil pollution has been detected in the area, as fuel in most locations has evaporated. A diver is also expected to visit the site to assess the condition of the seabed. Regarding the wreckage of the two boats, a process to recover them is expected to begin in the coming days.
