Paphos CID officers set up surveillance of a specific area during a coordinated operation to prevent burglaries and thefts in the early hours of Thursday, August 6. During the operation, police spotted a man moving suspiciously and entering the yards of homes. The 28-year-old tried to flee when he saw officers, but they stopped and arrested him for the flagrant offence of illegal entry. A search found housebreaking implements in his possession. A subsequent search of the 28-year-old’s vehicle turned up further housebreaking implements, cash and a quantity of drugs, which police seized. Testimony gathered against the 28-year-old allegedly links him to a house burglary and theft committed on November 18, 2025, in the Paphos district, and to an attempted burglary committed on May 21, 2026, also in the Paphos district. The 28-year-old appeared before Paphos District Court yesterday, which issued a five-day detention order against him. Pegeia Police Station continues the investigation.
