**Planned Power Cuts Across Paphos on Monday**
The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has scheduled power cuts in several communities within the Paphos district on Monday, August 31, as part of necessary maintenance work on the medium-voltage overhead network. This maintenance is aimed at ensuring the reliability and safety of the electricity supply in the region.
According to the EAC, the power interruptions will begin in Goudi, where residents can expect outages from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Following this, from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM, additional planned cuts will affect several other areas, including Pano Akourdalia, Kato Akourdalia, Terra, Skoulli, Choli, and the northwestern part of Kritou Terra.
The EAC has also announced that further power interruptions will occur between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM in Giolou, Miliou, Simou, Loukrounou, Kritou Terra, Pano Arodes, Kato Arodes, Ineia, Droushia, and Pittokopos.
In its communication, the authority emphasized that while these outages are scheduled for specific times, the duration of the power cuts may vary. The EAC advised consumers to treat their electrical installations as live during the entire period of the scheduled outages, as power may be restored earlier than anticipated.
The EAC expressed its apologies for any inconvenience caused by these necessary interruptions, reiterating that the maintenance work is crucial for the ongoing safety and reliability of the electricity supply.
In related news, the EAC is currently investigating the power cuts that occurred across the island last Friday. Preliminary reports indicated that the disruptions were due to a temporary loss of communication between the Distribution Control Centre and the photovoltaic parks connected to the distribution network. The investigation aims to understand the root cause of the issue and to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to prepare for the outages and to make any necessary arrangements to minimize disruption to their daily activities.
