**Police Chase in Larnaca Results in Arrests and Cocaine Seizure**
Larnaca, Cyprus – In a dramatic police pursuit late Friday night, two men were arrested after law enforcement officers seized approximately 1.5 kilograms of cocaine. The incident unfolded around 11 PM when a police officer on patrol in the Larnaca district noticed a vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner.
Upon signaling for the vehicle to stop, the driver accelerated away, prompting the officer to initiate a chase. As the pursuit continued, the officer requested assistance from the rapid response unit, known as MMAD, which quickly joined the operation.
The chase escalated as the driver exhibited increasingly dangerous behavior on the road. Ultimately, the vehicle lost control and veered off the road, coming to a halt in a ditch. Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered two 34-year-old men inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the car revealed a package containing approximately 1.57 kilograms of cocaine. Following the discovery, both men were arrested and taken into custody. They appeared before the Larnaca District Court on Saturday, where they were remanded in custody for a period of eight days as investigations into the incident continue.
