**Three Arrested in Larnaca Cannabis Bust**
Larnaca, Cyprus – In a significant operation targeting drug-related offenses, local police arrested three individuals on Wednesday evening after seizing approximately one kilogram of cannabis. The arrests are part of an ongoing effort by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and use in the region.
The operation began with a search warrant executed at the residence of a 32-year-old man in Larnaca. During the search, officers discovered a 23-year-old male relative of the suspect in a room within the house. Alongside him were four firecrackers, two flares, and a substantial amount of cash totaling €13,250. The police seized all items found in the room, leading to the immediate arrest of the younger man.
At the time of the search, the 32-year-old was not present at the property. However, he was contacted by a relative while police were at the scene. He informed officers that he was unable to return to the premises immediately.
While the investigation continued, police conducted a search in a nearby field owned by the 32-year-old. During this operation, a 31-year-old man approached the area in a vehicle. Police signaled for him to stop, but he attempted to evade capture, resulting in a collision with three police cars. The pursuit ended when the man was finally brought to a halt.
As a result of the collisions, one police officer sustained a minor injury to his hand and was transported to Larnaca General Hospital for treatment. He was later discharged. The 31-year-old was arrested on the scene, and police found 24 grams of cannabis, a grinder containing traces of the drug, a precision scale, and €100 in cash in his possession.
Shortly after the arrest of the 31-year-old, the 32-year-old man arrived at the field where police were conducting their search. Officers continued their investigation and discovered a cooler containing five packages of cannabis, which weighed a total of 910 grams. Various other items were also found in the cooler, leading to the arrest of the 32-year-old as well.
The police have stated that their investigation into the incident is ongoing, and they are working to gather more information regarding the individuals involved and the extent of the drug operation.
The arrests highlight the ongoing challenges that law enforcement faces in addressing drug-related crimes in Cyprus. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to tackling these issues through proactive measures and community engagement.
As the investigation unfolds, police are expected to release more details regarding the case and any further developments. The incident serves as a reminder of the continued efforts by law enforcement to maintain public safety and combat drug trafficking in the region.
