**Two Arrested for Assault in Nicosia**
Nicosia, Cyprus – Two men, both aged 32, were arrested on Wednesday in connection with a violent incident that occurred in the Nicosia district the previous day. The police reported that the altercation involved a 30-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle and subsequently assaulted.
The incident took place around 9 a.m. on Tuesday when the two suspects confronted the 30-year-old victim. According to police statements, one of the suspects drove a vehicle into the victim, causing injury. In a further escalation, when a relative of the victim arrived at the scene to assist, he too was struck by the vehicle.
Following the initial collision, the driver fled the scene, while the second suspect, who had arrived on a motorcycle, remained and engaged in a physical confrontation with the victim. The 30-year-old managed to restrain the motorcycle rider until law enforcement arrived.
Police quickly apprehended the motorcycle rider at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was later located and arrested as well. Investigations revealed that the motorcycle used by the second suspect had been reported stolen on August 30.
Both suspects were presented before the Nicosia district court on Wednesday morning, where they were remanded in custody for eight days as investigations continue.
The 30-year-old victim and a 32-year-old relative were transported to Nicosia General Hospital for medical evaluation. The relative sustained injuries to his chest and leg but is currently stable and receiving treatment. The 30-year-old victim was also admitted to the hospital for precautionary reasons.
