Traffic heading towards both Paphos and Limassol is being diverted via the old Limassol-Paphos road because of the fire. The Fire Service said the blaze is burning dry grass and wild vegetation. Four fire engines were sent to the scene, while additional support was requested from the Episkopi fire station. Volunteer firefighting teams are also expected to assist, while aircraft are carrying out water drops in an effort to bring the fire under control.
