**Pissouri Fire Closes Limassol-Paphos Highway**
A fire erupted near Pissouri on Sunday afternoon, leading to the closure of the Limassol-Paphos highway in both directions. The blaze began around 3 PM in an area adjacent to the highway, according to a statement from the fire brigade.
In response to the emergency, four fire engines were dispatched to the scene to combat the flames. Additionally, aerial support was called in, with aircraft deployed to drop water on the affected areas. The fire brigade also requested assistance from the Episkopi fire brigade, and volunteer teams were expected to join the firefighting efforts.
As a precautionary measure, the highway was closed to all traffic near Pissouri. Drivers traveling towards Limassol and Paphos were rerouted onto the old Limassol-Paphos road. Police and fire brigade personnel remained on-site to manage traffic and support the ongoing firefighting operations.
Authorities urged motorists to adhere to the instructions given by officers and to exercise caution while navigating through the area. The situation remains fluid, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
