Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) finalised the indictment on August 31 and referred the case to the Bucharest Tribunal. Prosecutors allege the brothers earned more than 1.25 million US dollars through the sexual exploitation of a victim who was recruited at the age of 15, according to Digi24. Andrew Tate, 39, faces charges of trafficking a minor, continued money laundering, repeated sexual acts with a minor and influencing statements. Tristan Tate, 38, faces charges of complicity in trafficking a minor, continued money laundering and influencing statements. Prosecutors allege Andrew Tate recruited the girl in 2012 by misleading her about his intention to pursue a relationship with her, and later allegedly controlled her through threats, emotional blackmail, surveillance and physical violence. Prosecutors allege she was forced to produce pornographic material and carry out videochat work for Andrew Tate’s benefit, and was repeatedly moved from the United Kingdom to Romania, where she was allegedly housed at properties in Voluntari, Tunari and the Pipera area until December 2021. Prosecutors allege the brothers received 1.25 million US dollars from her videochat work, roughly 80 per cent of the revenue it generated. They allege Tristan Tate managed her accounts, tracked her work and handled the money involved, despite knowing her age and how she had been recruited. DIICOT alleges that Andrew Tate had sexual contact with a second 15-year-old girl on several occasions between December 2020 and mid-2021. Prosecutors also allege both brothers tried to influence victims and witnesses, offering them money, phones and legal help. Prosecutors allege that between December 2023 and July 2024, the Tates purchased four cars and registered them under the names of trusted associates to hide where the funds came from. DIICOT wants the four luxury vehicles, worth an estimated 825,000 euros, confiscated, along with an amount equivalent to the 1.25 million US dollars allegedly earned from exploiting the minor. Prosecutors have also asked for the extended confiscation of other assets held by the brothers. The case will now go before the court.
