**Three Suspects in Custody Following Crystal Meth Trafficking Investigation**
Limassol, Cyprus - Three individuals are currently in police custody as part of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of crystal methamphetamine. The case came to light when a 29-year-old man appeared before the Limassol district court on Saturday, where he was remanded in custody for five days.
The investigation began after law enforcement received credible information regarding the trafficking and supply of methamphetamines. This prompted the drug squad, known as Ykan, to initiate surveillance operations on the suspects.
On Tuesday, officers observed a 50-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman traveling by car to a village in the Paphos district. They met with the 29-year-old, who arrived in a separate vehicle. During this meeting, the 50-year-old was seen handing an object to the younger man after taking money from him. Following this exchange, he allegedly collected another object from the 29-year-old's vehicle before all three suspects departed the scene.
Subsequently, police intercepted the older couple in the Limassol district. A search of their vehicle revealed four plastic bags containing a total of 145 grams of crystal meth, along with a smoking pipe that showed traces of the drug. Both suspects were arrested at the scene for drug-related offenses and were later remanded in custody for seven days by the Limassol district court.
The 29-year-old suspect was initially untraceable, leading to a court warrant for his arrest. However, he was apprehended on Friday after police from Ykan, the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and the Paphos rapid response unit stopped his vehicle based on a tip-off. A search revealed an additional 5 grams of crystal meth in his possession.
The Limassol district court has since ordered that he remain in custody for five days as the investigation continues. Authorities are probing several suspected offenses, including conspiracy to commit a felony, illegal possession of drugs, possession of drugs with intent to supply, supplying drugs, illegal drug use, and money laundering.
The investigation is ongoing, with Ykan continuing its work in both Limassol and Paphos districts. The police have not disclosed further details about the suspects or the source of the information that initiated the investigation.
