**Drunk Driver Arrested After Five-Vehicle Crash in Limassol**
A 38-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday morning following a series of collisions in central Limassol, reportedly while driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred around 6:20 AM on Christodoulou Hadjipavlou Street, where the driver first collided with a vehicle in front of him, leading to a chain reaction involving four additional cars.
According to police reports, after the initial impact, the driver continued down the road, mounting the pavement and ultimately crashing into a pole. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, where officers conducted alcohol tests on the driver. The results indicated a breath alcohol level of 97 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 22 micrograms.
Several individuals involved in the accident sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries are not considered serious. The 38-year-old driver was arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody. Authorities have indicated that the case will be presented to the Limassol district court on Tuesday.
